Benjamin Buchholz is a fellow at the Institute of Shia Studies. He earned his MA in Near East Studies from Princeton University and has served as U.S. Army Attache’ in Yemen, as a member of the U.S. Embassy in Oman, and as a Civil Affairs officer in the southern part of Iraq in 2005 and 2006. His novel “One Hundred and One Nights” (Little, Brown: 2011) has been listed by Publisher’s Weekly as a top-ten contemporary war novel.  He is currently working on a book manuscript on U.S. policies with regard to Shi’a communities.
